Note 1: This infallible Canon stating that the law of Moses cannot bring anyone to a state of justification, and it cannot
because there is no sanctifying grace in the Mosaic Law. Those of the Old Testament who held to the law and believed in the future Messiah descended into the Limbo section of Hell to await the re-opening of Heaven by the Catholic Jesus Christ. See Introduction Section to this website.
Note 2: Heaven is re-opened for men (after it was closed because of the Original Sin of Adam) by sanctifying grace
being re-introduced into the world. The sanctifying grace provided by water baptism remits Original Sin and re-opens Heaven for the baptized person as long as he stays in a justified state by believing the Catholic Dogma and Sources of Dogma (see Sections 5.1, 7.2, and 9). The person must also merit Heaven by doing sufficient works of charity (see Sections 28 and 29). This sanctifying grace is the identical grace that was removed from the souls of Adam and Eve at the moment of the fall.

Note 1: The activity which is being called here "jewish practices" has nothing to do with the religion of Old Testament Israelites which was the Catholic Faith unfulfilled. A portion of Old Testament Hebrews left the Israelite covenant about 200 B.C. and fell into the pagan practices of "talmudic judaism" which they adopted from the pagan Babylonian talmud ... which was carried out of the Babylonian captivity in 538 B.C. This sinful activity of "worshiping" their non-existent "jewish god" is carried out on Saturdays, six days after the Lord's Day (Sunday).
Note 2: After the redemption and after the First Pentecost (when water baptism became mandatory for the remission of Original Sin and therefore salvation) many of those who fell into "talmudic judaism" were not baptized into the Catholic Church. The Church needs words to identify this particular group of un-baptized pagans and these words are "jew", "jews", and "jewish". See Section 39.1 of this site.
Note 3: The religion of the Old Testament Israelites was the Catholic Faith unfulfilled, and the rites of the Israelites (they weren't jews) were simply pre-figurings of the rites of the Catholic Church ... they weren't "jewish practices", the "jewish practices" started in about 200 B.C. after the Babylonian captivity.

Note 1: There was not, during the Old Testament times, any such thing as "jewish rites" since the "judaism" apostasy started in about 200 B.C. when many Israelites left God's covenant and fell into the pagan fable of "talmudic judaism" ... which they "adopted" from the Babylonian talmudic paganism while in captivity.
Note 2: The Fourth Lateran Council is stating that the religion of the Old Testament Israelites has been superseded (fulfilled in the Catholic Church) ... it ended when God tore the Temple veil from the top down.
Note 3: The very word "convert" is misleading. When a heretic (or a pagan who calls himself a jew) comes into
the Catholic Church they are not "converting" from anything that has any validity in the sight of God. They are, in reality, progressing from a theological nothingness (heretic or un-baptized pagan) and entering into the Kingdom of God.
