There also had been in Spain, since the beginning of the Middle Ages, a considerable number of un-baptized pagans who call themselves jews. The "jewish", Christian and "mohammedan" societies were not partitioned, even though their relations were not always harmonious. A large number of the jew-pagans had made believe that they wanted to come into the Catholic Church. If at the moment of baptism, you do not believe the Catholic Dogmas, the baptism is in fact not valid and Original Sin remains on the soul.

Recall that the "talmud" instructs the pagans who call themselves jews to pretend conversion in order to avoid persecution. These fake non-Catholic infiltrator jew-pagans were called "marranos."

Contrary to that which one has been led to believe, the marranos had not converted under menace. The marranos were seeking rather to infiltrate Catholic society in order to control it. Their strategy of matrimonial alliances was very effective, since by the 16th century, the majority of Spanish noble families counted marranos among them.

Isabella of Castile was on the point of marrying a rich marrano moneylender named Pedro Giron, but God did not allow it. The Castilian marrano died on the road leading him to his fiancée, after having refused the Christian sacraments and blasphemed the Holy Name of Jesus.

The marranos were not content to infiltrate the Spanish nobility; they also infiltrated the Church. In that era, to do the one was to do the other, since the upper ranks of the clergy generally came from the nobility. Some marrano "priests" actually taught the "talmud" in their churches. The bishop of Segovia, Juan Arias of Avila, gave a "jewish" burial to his parents who had abjured (formally denied) the Catholic Faith which comes to us from Heaven. The bishop of Calahorra, Pedro d’Aranda, denied the Trinity and the Passion of Christ. The Castillian "jewish" encyclopedia states that the marranos "instinctively sought to debilitate Spanish Catholicism."

The vast majority of the "conversos" (another name for the marranos) worked insidiously for its own interests within the different branches of the political and ecclesiastical bodies, condemned, very often openly, the doctrine of the Church, and contaminated by its influence the entire body of the believers.

The "judaizing" of Spanish Catholicism under the influence of the marranos explains in part the popularity of Erasmus, precursor of Luther, in that country. At Rome, they seriously feared the emergence of a "jewish" kingdom in Spain.

A second problem superimposed itself on the religious problem. The marranos had purchased for cash the public offices of several Spanish cities, crushing the old-Christian people under the weight of taxes and usury. There were some popular uprisings against the marrano power at Toledo and Cuidad Real in 1449. The marranos regained control of these cities in 1467 and massacred a great number of old-Christians. There were other bloodbaths in Castile (1468) and in Andalusia (1473). Spain was then on the threshold of a racial and religious civil war. This war, which would have been appalling, was avoided, thanks to the Inquisition.

Many of the un-baptized pagans, who referred to themselves as jews, that entered the Church were not always marranos. Many among them were sincerely Catholic. St. Teresa of Avila (who was the granddaughter of a marrano) had been investigated by the Inquisition.

In fact, the truly converted former jew-pagans were the biggest enemies of the marranos. The former "rabbis" Salomon Halevi, become bishop of Burgos under the name of Pablo de Santa Maria, and Jehoshua Ha-Lorqui, become Brother Jerome of the Holy Faith, wrote violent works against the "judaism" fable.

The historian Henry Kamen notes that the principal polemicists against the "judaic" fable were themselves ex-pagans who called themselves jews. It was they who clamored for a tribunal of the Inquisition to distinguish between the false "jewish" Catholic converts and the sincere new Catholics. The first Spanish Grand Inquisitor, Tomas de Torquemada, was a jew-pagan when he had decided to cooperate with God's grace and come into the Catholic Church. Part of the work of the Inquisition is that they had to try to determine which converts from jew-paganism were willfully lying about the Faith as opposed to those ... who were in error but simply needed to be corrected.

The Spanish Inquisition was instituted by a papal bull in 1478. The action of this tribunal protected the doctrinal integrity of the Spanish Church while avoiding a general pogrom. In face of the marranos peril, as before in the case of the Cathar peril, the Inquisition sought to neutralize the leaders of the heresy in order to spare and retrieve the majority of the heretics.

The Church's legislation on heresy and heretics is often reproached with cruelty and intolerance. Intolerant it is: in fact its raison d'être is intolerance of doctrines subversive of the faith. But such intolerance is essential to all that is, or moves, or lives, for tolerance of destructive elements within the organism amounts to suicide. Heretical sects are subject to the same law: they live or die in the measure they apply or neglect it. The charge of cruelty is also easy to meet. All repressive measures cause suffering or inconvenience of some sort: it is their nature. But they are not therefore cruel. The father who chastises his guilty son is just and may be tender-hearted. Cruelty only comes in where the punishment exceeds the requirements of the case. Opponents say: Precisely; the rigours of the Inquisition violated all humane feelings. We answer: they offend the feelings of later ages in which there is less regard for the purity of faith; but they did not antagonize the feelings of their own time, when heresy was looked on as more malignant than treason.

In proof of which it suffices to remark that the inquisitors only renounced on the guilt of the accused and then handed him over to the secular power to be dealt with according to the laws framed by emperors and kings. Medieval people found no fault with the system, in fact heretics had been burned by the populace centuries before the Inquisition became a regular institution. And whenever the heretics gained the upper hand, they were never slow in applying the same laws: so the Huguenots in France, the Hussites in Bohemia, the Calvinists in Geneva, the Elizabethan statesmen and the Puritans in England.

These groups performed torture far worse than the Spanish Inquisition. The English heretics for example would hang people, cut them down before they died to tear their intestines out, and then quarter them (tear the bodies into four pieces).

Christ said: "Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34). The history of heresy verifies this prediction and shows, moreover, that the greater number of the victims of the sword is on the side of the faithful adherents of the one Church founded by Christ.

The jew-pagans and heretics responsible for the genocidal wars of the 20th century and other killing frenzies resulted in over 450,000,000 deaths. The heretic and jew run killing sprees of the 20th Century is exactly what the Inquisition in defense of Catholic States worked to prevent.

"The crowning disloyalty to God is heresy.

It is the sin of sins, the very loathsomest of things which God looks down upon in this malignant world. Yet how little do we understand of its excessive hatefulness! It is the polluting of God’s truth, which is the worst of all impurities.

Yet how light we make of it! We look at it, and are calm. We touch it and do not shudder. We mix with it, and have no fear. We see it touch holy things, and we have no sense of sacrilege. We breathe its odour, and show no signs of detestation or disgust. Some of us affect its friendship; and some even extenuate its guilt.

We do not love God enough to be angry for His glory. We do not love men enough to be charitably truthful for their souls."
