Catholic De Fide Dogma, Section V, God the Sanctifier, Dogma 17 > "The sinner can and must prepare himself by the help of actual grace for the reception of the grace by which he is justified."
Note: The sinner (heretic, apostate, etc.) is getting the actual graces needed to get to a justified state. There are two types of grace, actual grace and sanctifying grace. Actual grace influences the person to enter into the Catholic Church through water baptism. Sanctifying grace is grace from the sacraments (in our time we have only water baptism and marriage as available sacraments). The soul is placed into a state of justification by water baptism and believing the Catholic Dogmas (post age of reason (7 years)). The person will stay in the justified state (justified before God) unless there is a fall into mortal sin. If he dies in a justified state and has done works to merit Heaven, God will bring him into Heaven. There is no such thing as a heretic being in the justified state because heresy is a mortal sin against the First Commandment, a sin against faith. There is no such thing as an un-baptized pagan being in a justified state. Justification is not salvation, salvation is getting to Heaven.

Note: After the person is placed into a justified state, he receives further assistance to save his soul. The human soul is saved by three things (1) Faith, (2) Grace, and (3) Works. If one doesn’t lose the faith through heresy, and cooperates with grace to do good works to merit Heaven he can be saved (brought into Heaven). Sections 28 and 29 of this website address the requirement of good works, and works worthy of penance (for sins committed) to get to Heaven.

Note 1: Saint Alphonsus is correct in using the word "jews" for those who persecuted the Messiah in that these people had left God's covenant with the Israelites. Those who did not persecute Christ remained in God's Isaelite covenant by keeping the faith of the Israelite writings (the writngs of the Catholic Church unfulfilled) and got baptized in water to remit Original Sin -- writings such as:
